Psalm 23 is so special to me. ❤️
I've read it all my life. I've memorized it, prayed it, and returned to it more times than I can count. But there have been seasons when these familiar words have met me in ways I never could have imagined.
Because it's one thing to read, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” when life is peaceful. It's another thing to cling to those words when the path beneath your feet looks nothing like the one you thought you'd be walking.
And yet, He is still the Good Shepherd.
The One who leads us beside still waters is the same One who walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death.
I love that Psalm 23 doesn't promise us a life without valleys. It promises us a Shepherd who will be WITH us in them.
And He doesn't just lead us through the hard places. He restores our souls. He prepares a table. His goodness and mercy follow us.
Through every season. Every valley. Every mountaintop. And everywhere in between.
Maybe you need that reminder today, too.
You are not walking alone. You have a Shepherd who knows you, who cares for you, and who will not abandon you along the way.
