Fix our eyes | 2 Cor 4:18

One of my largest paintings is now available in sizes you can frame. This painting highlights the season I find myself in… and I have a feeling I’m not alone. Our circumstances may be different but I am confident some of you find yourself faced with the “hard” in life. The mountains you face feel too much, too high, too vast, immovable. God has been reminding me when we have even a glimpse of His perspective, things change—even if it’s just a change of heart. As I was painting I could hear His whisper, “Your mountains are not mountains to Me. Raise your head! See how your mountains compare to My majesty? See how your mountains measure against My presence? See how your mountains pale in comparison to My beauty? I Am The Great I Am!”

“So we fix our eyes….”

It’s a decision to look up.

We lift our eyes not on our mountain but on our God.

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

There is so much going on in the unseen that we have no comprehension of. All we see is this mountain. We can’t understand why this is happening. We can’t fathom any reason why He doesn’t rescue right away! We can’t comprehend IF HE COULD… why He wouldn’t… why He doesn’t. But tonight I’m lifting up my tear-filled eyes and fixing them not on what I can see but on what I can’t. He’s helping me see. I see through the mirror dimly. And tonight if that’s all I get, He says that’s enough.

Hopefully the contrast of the “mountains” in this painting to the glory that stands above reminds you to raise your little ol’ head. He is, in fact, the lifter of our heads (Psalm 3:3)
