Popular artwork turned into a bookmark. Here's the story behind the art:
Psalm 63:7 really captured my attention.
“…for You have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.”
I could almost imagine what it looks like when we run to our God for help and as we find refuge we can choose to lift our voice and praise the One who offers us a safe place. In this season I have felt His covering, His presence. Even in the gut-wrenching moments I have experienced His shadow. I have walked the hospital halls singing softly words that say to Him that even now in our darkest days, we love Him—we need Him—we trust Him.
I immediately wanted to create artwork that made me “feel” this verse. Most of the time, as a painter, I go into a project with a fairly good idea of what I’m going to do before I do it, but this piece came together as I went along. I hadn’t planned on making her dress out of some of the songs I’ve been singing until… it just started happening. Here are the three songs that appear in her dress: Goodness of God, Firm Foundation, and In Christ Alone. I have a feeling these are probably songs many of you have been singing too. Or if not, they may be songs to look up… they might be just what you need as you lift your “songs of joy” as you take cover under His wings.
